FAQs
What prospects usually ask.
UX audit or full redesign — how do we choose?
A UX audit is the right starting point when you suspect there are problems but aren't sure where. We document the issues, rank them by impact, and most clients then fix the high-impact ones incrementally rather than committing to a full redesign. Full redesigns make sense when the underlying structure is fundamentally wrong — typically when the product has grown well beyond what the original IA was designed for.How much does UI/UX work cost?
A focused UX audit with prioritised recommendations typically runs £2,500–£8,000 depending on product scope. A full design project (research, wireframes, high-fidelity UI, design system) is usually £15,000–£60,000. A reusable design system that other teams can build on top of is more like £20,000–£80,000. Discovery work upfront usually adds £3,000–£10,000 if user research is genuinely needed. How do you research user needs without a huge budget?
Lean research, not academic research. Five to seven well-chosen user interviews surface most usability issues in any given product — diminishing returns kick in fast beyond that. Combined with quantitative data you already have (analytics, support tickets, sales call recordings), it's enough to make good design decisions without a six-figure research project. We pay participants, run sessions remotely, and write up findings in days not weeks.Do you handle accessibility (WCAG) compliance?
Yes — accessibility is built into the design and code from the start, not bolted on afterwards. Default target is WCAG 2.2 AA, which covers colour contrast, keyboard navigation, screen-reader semantics, focus management, and form labels. For public-sector or high-risk projects we'll go further (AAA contrast, full alt-text audits, accessibility statements). Bolting accessibility onto a finished product is always more expensive than building it in.What design tools do you work in, and do we get the source files?
Figma for almost everything — it's the working standard for collaborative product design. Source files live in your Figma workspace from day one (or get transferred at handover if we worked in ours), with full edit access. There's no licensing or proprietary file-format issue that prevents you handing them to another designer later. How do you hand designs off to our developers?
Figma's developer mode handles the basics — measurements, colour values, exported assets. On top of that we provide a written component spec for any non-trivial behaviour (states, edge cases, accessibility expectations) and pair with the dev team during the build to answer questions. Where we're also building the product, designs and implementation evolve together rather than being two separate phases. Can you work with an existing in-house design system?
Yes — and we usually prefer it. Designing inside an existing system means new screens fit the rest of the product, your developers can build them faster, and you don't end up with three competing visual languages. If the existing system has gaps (missing components, undocumented variants, inconsistent tokens), we'll flag and either fill them or recommend a focused design-system upgrade as a separate piece of work.
